The IntelliStick intrusion and oil condition monitoring sensor technology uses two arrays of electrodes to electrically stimulates the oil at a particular low voltage and frequency.

Additive levels, oxidation by-products and water in the oil can all be distinguished from the resulting signals. IntelliStick also includes an oil temperature sensor to compensate for changes in the electrical properties of the oil due to temperature changes. 

The instrument continuously monitors the oil and can report the condition in real-time to the user using a number of communication methods.

The system can identify the following oil conditions:

• Depletion of the oil's lubricity and anti-oxidant additive package
• Oxidation of the oil
• A major rise in viscosity
• Water or coolant intrusion
• Fuel intrusion
• Over-heating
