Industrial Analyzer

The IntelliStick system is a real-time intrusion and oil condition sensor. It continuously scans for water, fuel and coolant intrusion, monitors and reports oil condition, and triggers alarms based on customer specifications. The IntelliStick Industrial Analyzer communicates by RS-232, RS-485, or optionally 4-20 mA.

In addition to monitoring intrusion, IntelliStick Industrial tracks oil condition including additive depletion and oxidation/acid build-up. Knowing oil condition in real-time gives operators another insight into the condition of equipment and the ability to take corrective action before minor issues become serious problems.

If you're only measuring viscosity, it may already be too late. With IntelliStick you know when a problem occurs, in real-time. There’s no waiting for an oil analysis report, which may arrive too late, to tell you your equipment has an intrusion or that you have suffered a catastrophic oil loss.

The A200 series Industrial analyzer can read oil condition, read oil temperature and detect intrusion with either a Dipstick or Threaded Sensor.

Measurements made:

There are three main measurements made by the IntelliStick oil condition sensor. These three outputs are available as digital data and as 3 separate 4-20mA loops (if this option is purchased).

1. Temperature-compensated conductance: This is a voltammetric measurement that responds to additives and oxidation by-products.

2. Emulsion ratio: This responds to the presence of water, glycol or other conductive emulsions in the oil. It also reads higher if there is sludge formation on the sensor.

3. Fluid temperature reading

Several additional values are also available over the digital communications – the alarms are indicated by status lights, and also the alarm output transistor with the 4-20mA option.

1. Oil loss alarm: This alarm occurs when there is a possible oil loss or the probe is out of the oil.

2. Contamination alarm: This alarm occurs when the user-specified emulsion alarm threshold is reached (e.g. possible contamination with water or coolant).

3. Oil temperature alarm: This alarm occurs when the user-specified oil temperature alarm threshold is reached.

4. Fault alarm: This alarm occurs when an internal fault has occurred with the analyzer. If this alarm occurs the analyzer may need to be serviced.

Status Indicators

The Analyzer has two LED status indicators:

The green Status Light indicates power (short flashes) and communications (long flashes).

The Alarm Light will show an orange light when:

  • -Water or coolant intrusion into the oil.
  • -Any other sort of contamination of the oil that causes an unusual response.

The Alarm Light will show a red Light when:

  • -Sensor disconnected.
  • -Oil level loss. This includes removal of the sensor from the oil pan. (Dipstick sensor only).
  • -Internal fault with the sensor or analyzer.

The alarm output transistor (which is part of the optional 4-20mA card) will activate at the same time as any alarm.

Software

There are two software applications that can be used with the A230 Analyzer. The Configure IntelliStick program and the IntelliStick Monitor program.

The A230 IntelliStick Analyzer stores its most recent 4 weeks of readings - the IntelliStick Monitor program can download this data and display it in a user-friendly way.

The Configure IntelliStick program allows setting of the baud rate, communication method, alarm points and some reading parameters.

Both of these programs can be installed from the IntelliStick website.
